Get to Know Us
The Illinois Law Enforcement Administrative Professionals Association (Illinois LEAP) began in February 1999 as the DuPage County Police Chiefs' Secretaries Association. It was founded by a group of 19 administrative assistants from DuPage County who came together to foster communication and collaboration among the support staff of local police departments.
As the group expanded beyond DuPage County, a name change was made in November 2007 to better reflect its growing reach. The association became Suburban Law Enforcement Administrative Professionals (Suburban LEAP), and by January 2008, a new logo was introduced to accompany the rebranding.

In March 2015, the association adopted its current name, Illinois Law Enforcement Administrative Professionals (Illinois LEAP), to welcome agencies from across the entire state. This change marked a significant step in broadening our mission and impact. Today, Illinois LEAP proudly includes over 100 agencies and more than 120 professionals in its membership. In April 2015, the logo was updated once again, honoring the original design while embracing a refreshed identity.
